Hi All!

Ian started swimming and t-ball (again) this week.
He is a lot more "focused" on t-ball since he turned 4. He is throwing a lot better. He already knew all the bases from last time. Next week they will be hitting the ball (stand well away while this is going on).

He seems to have discovered things he can do himself ever since the day he turned 4 (July 5) that he could not do the week before wjen he was only 3!

He has been earning lots of stickers on his Chore Chart. We replaced "no dribbles in the underpants" to "walk with Bruno."

Ian has been asking a lot of questions about death, dying, heaven, etc.
He is fairly matter-of-fact about the whole thing.

"The ambulance picks up the dead persons and takes them to that one church that's only for dead persons. Thennnnn, the dead person's friends and mama go to the cemetary to say goodbye and then when they leave the dead person suddenly will go up to Heaven. No dogs or animals will dig up the dead person because it's in a box that is buried deep deep. You can't see the person's when they are dead because they are in that box and can't get out. Usually it is locked.
You can see them when you go to heaven with Norman and Sharkey and all Grandma's old dogs. They play ball at Heaven and eat bones. We don't know what heaven looks like, not even mama. When you go to heaven you don't ever come back to this earth. Good that we know some people and cats and dogs there already."

I have my gall bladder surgery on Mon, Aug 11. Not looking forward to it, but I'll be glad to not have that issue (PAIN) any more.

Hi All!

I went in for a bunch of heart tests and it is confirmed....I do actually have one (I kept a copy to prove it to Boyd).

So....the chest pains and whatnot must be related to the gall bladder issue. I am having that removed on Monday, August 11. We saw a sonogram of it and it looks like a sack of rocks.

Ian started another round of swim lessons. T-ball starts tomorrow. I am optimistic about t-ball since Ian "came to life" on the field during the last day of soccer last week.

Saturday night I volunteered for a preschool fund raiser in El Dorado Hills selling snow cones, oh excuse me Hawaiian Ice. "Moonlight in Margaritaville" with a Jimmy Buffet tribute band. I was so excited as I LOVE Jimmy Buffet, however....it was 1000 degrees, I had no idea where I was going or what I was supposed to do when I got there. Teacher Laura showed up with the ice machine and syrup. We unloaded it all and then just stared at it (as if it would put itself together and start producing).

Luckily the guy who owns the machine (Teacher Heidi is thinking about buying it for the school) was in the booth right next to us and helped us out.

It was so boring for about 3 hours, but then the sun went down, the music started and folks actually bought some ices. We only made about $60, (after the 20% the venue collected), but it's better than nothing.

Grandma made Ian some Thomas pjs and matching bandanas for Charles and Bruno! Check out the photos.

Thank you, God that there is only one more day of Vacation Bible School! I love the little darlings, but....my sanity is standing at the open window

Ian had a GREAT soccer game.
He usually hangs out on the fringe and studies dragonflys, picks dandelions and announces aircraft.
Today for who knows why he decided to actually play soccer! He started out as the goalie and seriously defended his territory. Then when it was his turn to be offense he drove the ball down the field and scored! He got into a mix-up with 3 or 4 other kids, but held his ground and didn't cry.
We celebrated with fish sticks and apple sauce.

Next week is swim lessons and t-ball.

Over the weekend...

Friday's Dinner and a Movie at church was a fun and successful evening. The night would not be complete without a few snafus; we don't know how to work a gas bbq grill and of course there was a problem with the DVD. Dinner and a Movie night as usual!

Ian spent the night at "Granny Janice's" (surrogate grandma from church) that night as Mama had to be at the fairgrounds for the school fundraiser garage sale Saurday at 5:30 am. Boyd was out of town and I did not want to have to wake Chicky up at 4:30am!

Granny J reported that I need not have given her any instructions as Ian walked her through all the steps of getting him ready for bed including brushing teeth. Unfortunately Mama forgot to pack his toothbrush and Granny J had to assure him that he could, in fact go to bed without brushing this one time.

Saturday they played games, colored and did some gardening.

The yard sale was a lot of work by just a few people, but the amount that got done was amazing. It was hot and exhausting, but we laughed a lot and made quite a bit of money for our little preschool. Every year during the sale someone says, "Let's not do this again next year", but we always do! Gluttons for punishment?

Sunday morning Ian and I went to church. Some folks had brought their grand daughters who like to play with Ian (Ian and his women!). They invited Ian over to play with trains (ya think he wanted to go? Girls AND trains???). He had a fun time and was exhausted when I picked him up.

He actually ASKED to go to bed at 8:15 (early for him), but then got up and said he was scared because coyotes were tapping on his window again (The coyote spray I used apparently didn't work this time). I let him get in my bed (Daddy's out of town) and listen to music. He was out in 30 seconds.

We start Vacation Bible School tomorrow. I am the Preschool/Kindergarten teacher so Ian will be in my class again this year.

I am so tired, but can't get to sleep. Don'tcha hate that!

Welcome
